I think I learned my most important lesson in business back when I was in high school, and as is normal at that age, did not realize it for years to come.  It happened one day back when Ross Perot was big news. I heard the story where a group of idealists somehow got a meeting with him and asked him to fund their concept for a new country.  As I heard the story, without missing a beat, he asked them “How long is it going to take and how much is it going to cost?”  Unable to answer either question they left with their tails tucked low.

What I learned in the years since hearing this story is that these are the quintessential questions which must be answered in response to every great new idea.
